Lifestyle Areas are an Urban Structure officially termed City Sectors.
We think they are better described as "parts of town with distinct lifestyles and amenities". Local residents come to know these areas instinctively, yet they are based on a theory of urban structure by economist Homer Hoyt. The sector model proposes that a city develops in sectors with certain areas more or less attractive by various activities often by design, geographic, economic or environmental reasons.

We have taken the sector model and adapted it for the Texas coast to identify the major sectors of each city by lifestyle characteristics and amenities. Many of our visitors and new residents are not familiar with the lifestyles associated with the different parts of our coastal cities and we've seen too many cases where an individual found out the lifestyle they desired was in another part of town.
